I have had two â€Å"real† jobs in my life. I first worked as a newspaper courier for Columbine Newspaper. They laid me off and now, years later, I work as a Sales Representative for Cutco Cutlery. This company utilizes both the Classical theory and applies the systems theory to their organization. Organizing their company in this way has made them the number one kitchen cutlery company in the world and has created the ideal workplace in my eyes. Cutco utilizes part of the classical theory that is reflected best by the way in which management is organized. At the top of the Hierarchy in my ideal workplace is the Region President. He oversees my region, which is the South West Region- there are six other regions. The next step down in the ladder are the numerous Division Managers (DVM). The Division Managers each have their own office inside the region and are in charge of their Branch managers (who run their own office for a short period during the year) and their own personal office. In each office, there are several Assistant Managers (AM). The environment in the office is such that, everyone is interdependent on each other to continue being the number one office in the US. According to O’Hair the concept of this is that, â€Å"If each member of a group is assigned a portion of a presentation, each member must participate for the presentation to succeed.
